Police: Drugs, Weapons Found in Home of Anti-Government Activist Adam Kokesh

Had threatened armed march on Washington.

Adam Kokesh, the anti-government, pro-gun activist who had threatened an armed march on Washington, was in jail Wednesday after police said they found drugs and weapons in his Herndon home.

Town of Herndon Police Lt. Jim Moore said the local department was called Tuesday night to assist officers from U.S. Parks, who served Kokesh with a search warrant on his home, located in the 1500 block of Snowflake Court.

Moore said they wanted to search Kokesh's home after seeing a YouTube video he posted on July 4th, where he appeared to be loading ammunition into a shotgun in the middle of Freedom Plaza while talking to the camera.

Kokesh, a former Marine, said, "We will not be silent. We will not obey. We will not allow our government to destroy our humanity."

Moore said as Freedom Plaza is U.S. Park territory, the search warrant was federal and therefore not Herndon Police's jurisdiction.

"We were called upon only to assist by holding a perimeter around his home, and keeping cars away from the street," Moore said.

Moore confirmed Kokesh was taken into custody after the search was conducted, as officers found stashes of both drugs and weapons in his home. He said the evidence they found confirmed what they suspected - that Kokesh was loading live ammunition into the shotgun in the video.

"It looked real, and it sounded real," he said. "And they found more evidence in his home."

Moore said Kokesh is being charged with both narcotics and weapons violations, and he was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
