Herndon DUI Checkpoint: Man Charged with Driving Drunk and Possessing PCP

Two other arrests and a number of citations were made at a checkpoint in Herndon Friday night.

Town of Herndon Police conducted a sobriety checkpoint Friday night that yielded a handful of arrests and citations.

Results of the checkpoint included one driver who earned his third DUI in the past 10 years, and he was also allegedly caught possessing PCP.

According to public information officer Lt. Jim Moore, around 350 cars passed through the checkpoint, which was conducted from 8:30 p.m. Friday night until 3 a.m. the following morning.

Officers were checking for a few different things, Moore indicated in a statement.

"Motorists...were checked to assure that their ability to drive has not been impaired by drugs or alcohol. In addition to the checking the sobriety of each driver, their operator’s licenses were checked as well, to ensure compliance with the law," Moore's statement read.

In addition to the man arrested above, two other DUI arrests were made, along with eight summonses for licensed drivers who did not have their license on them, seven summonses for non-licensed drivers, and one summons for driving with a suspended license, as well as a few other minor citations.
