Our daily briefs, bringing you local Herndon news and events at a glance.

Welcome to Today in Herndon, bringing you local Herndon news and events at a glance.

We here at Herndon Patch got a huge response when we published this letter to the editor last month from local resident Kathe Barsotti, pleading her case for the Town of Herndon to amend its zoning ordinance to allow her to keep her miniature pet goats. The Town will consider a zoning ordinance text amendment next Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 765 Lynn St. Barsotti asks anyone who supports her efforts to come and speak their opinion at the meeting, or write to a Town official to show their support. Read her letter and find out how to write to Town officials about the issue here.

Read all about it here.

And in other local election news, Virginia Senator Mark Herring (D-Loudoun) unveiled his ethics reform proposal Wednesday. In light of recent scandals such as the one involving Gov. Bob McDonnell, Herring - the Democratic candidate for attorney general - said his ethics reform would include a commission to review and improve Virginia ethics laws.
