Griffin Harrington, Neighbor

Griffin Harrington is a senior at Herndon High School.
He has covered events ranging from an Eagle Scout induction ceremony to a regional level high school basketball game and even a graduation speech by Michelle Obama. He is the lead photojournalist on my school's newspaper and he has photographed a majority of the school's main events for my schools yearbook, from games to graduation. <br><br> Early on in his photography career I applied to many photography contests online and off, but to no avail. Then, last year he won the 2009-2010 Washington Post High School Photographer of the Year with an emotional photo from underneath a basketball team's huddle. Because of that photo he got to shadow a Washington Post staff photographer for a day, getting a great feel for the actual duties of a newspaper photographer. <br><br> But that was nothing compared to the amazing opportunity that he had this summer to intern for Getty Images in New York City for a month. Getty Images is an award winning international photo agency that is known for their editorial photography. He got to walk the walk of the real photo world and spend hours picking the brains of some of the best photojournalists in world.
