Herndon Police Blotter: Woman Trespasses Three Times in One Day Before Arrest

Also, items stolen from several cars, and a handful of drug and shoplifting arrests.

  Herndon police say a woman was caught trespassing at a home in the 700 block of Van Buren Street three times in one day. On April 19, police received the first call from the resident at noon that day. The woman came back, prompting the resident to call the police again at 5:49 p.m.  However, two calls to the police apparently weren't enough to scare the 34-year-old Great Falls woman off, because she returned yet again, just before 7:45 p.m. This time, Herndon police arrested her. -------------------------------- The Herndon Police Department also reported the following incidents from April 15 to 21. Herndon Police Promote Officers

Three members of the HPD earned new titles this week.

Three Herndon police officers received promotions this week for their excellent work in the department. Lieutenant Michael Berg, Sergeant Lawrence Whitmer, and Corporal Damien Austin were honored in a ceremony this week by a number of local officials, including Police Cheif Maggie DeBoard, Del. Tom Rust and council member Grace Wolf, among other town representatives and police officers. Learn more about each officer in the bios provided by the department below. Herndon Police to Conduct Drills at Bready Park & Community Center

Nearby residents may see unusual police activity in Bready Park during these times, but it is no cause for alarm, the department said.

  The Herndon Police Department sent out a statement this week informing locals that it plans to conduct emergency drills at the Herndon Community Center and Bready Park over the next two Sundays - so if anyone sees police at the park, there's no reason to worry. The Town of Herndon Police Department will be closing the Community Center during certain evening hours on two Sunday evenings to conduct the emergency operations exercises. The two Sunday evenings will be during this week and next - April 28 and May 5. "Any police activity in Bready Park outside the community center, or unusual noise coming from the center, may be attributed to these drills," the police said in a statement. Herndon Police Blotter: Resident's Car Nearly Destroyed by Vandals

  Herndon Police reported this week that a resident's car was nearly destroyed by vandals on Saturday, April 13 in the 600 block of Center Street. Police took the call just before 3:30 p.m. that the owner of the vehicle discovered that his or her car had been scratched, the taillights broken, and the tires had been slashed. In addition, an "unknown substance" had been poured over the trunk area of the vehicle. Police took a report.   The Herndon Police Department reported the other following incidents from April 8 to 14. Herndon Police Report: Sign Stolen from Town Green, Grey Goose Vodka Stolen, Motorcycle Repeatedly Knocked Over

Herndon Council Honors Lt. Jerry Keys

The Herndon Town Council presented a certificate of appreciation to Lt. Keys for 33 years of service.

Herndon Police Leiutenant Jerry Keys retired this month, and was honored by the Herndon Town Council for 33 years of service Tuesday.  Keys began working with the Herndon Police Department in July of 1980, and retired from his position this month. Herndon Police reported a group of restaurant patrons left without paying their bill on March 3 in the 13000 block of Worldgate Drive.

A Hyattsville man and a Herndon man were arrested for possession of cocaine on Feb. 18 in the 600 block of Dulles Park Court.
