Registration for Town of Herndon residents starts Wednesday.
Registration for the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department's winter classes and programs begins this week. Registration is open to all Town of Herndon residents beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Registration can be done online or in person. Registration for non-Town of Herndon residents will be open at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 both online and in person. Beginning with winter registration, those signing up for programs and classes with Herndon parks and rec will do so through a new system called Webtrac, available at https://www.herndon-va.gov/webtrac. Director position includes a monthly stipend.
The Herndon Towne Square Singers are seeking a new choral director, as longtime member and current director Harlon Reece steps down. The director will be under the general supervision of the recreation supervisor for the performing arts at the Herndon Department of Parks and Recreation. The director recieves a monthly stipend. The director will plan, coordinate and conduct two choral performances per year for the Towne Square Singers choral group. The Herndon Towne Square Singers includes about 30 members that perform contemporary music and show tunes. All customers should open new accounts.
The Town of Herndon Parks and Recreation Department recently began using a new system for program registration called WebTrac. Patrons wishing to register for classes, including existing customers, must create a new account with the department in the WebTrac system. Customers are being encouraged to set up accounts during the month of November to ensure they're ready for winter registration, which opens Dec. 5 for Town of Herndon residents and Dec. 11 for non-residents. To qualify for a resident discount, those who live in the Town of Herndon must provide proof of residency in person at the Herndon Community Center after they establish an account with WebTrac. The Town of Herndon's department of parks and recreation won two awards at a recent conference.
About 450 delegates from around Virginia gathered earlier this month for the 58th annual Conference of the Virginia Recreation and Park Society, including representatives from Herndon. The Town of Herndon's Department of Parks and Recreation won two awards at the event, which was held at Wintergreen Resort in Nelson County. More than 100 applications were submitted for awards in 14 different categories. The Town of Herndon's Parks and Recreation Department Fall Program Guide is available at the Herndon Community Center or on the town's website. Each session includes hundreds of programs and classes available in aquatics, dance, fitness, tennis, gymnastics, arts and crafts as well as special interest programs. There are a number of health and wellness programs for children, teens, adults and seniors. The town encourages residents to register early to make sure they are able to enroll in the programs they are interested in. Town of Herndon residents may begin registering at 10 a.m. on Aug. 15, and non-residents may begin registering at 10 a.m. on Aug. 21.
