Speak Out: Banner's Hallmark in Worldgate Set to Close This Month

Will you miss the local Hallmark store?

Banner's Hallmark, a chain that owns more than 25 Hallmark stores in the Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland region, announced it would close the original Worldgate store in January.  The company announced on Facebook that it would say goodbye to Banner's Hallmark in the Worldgate Shopping Center off of Worldgate Drive. The store will close by the end of February, and currently all products are on sale for 25 percent off or more.  The Worldgate location was Banner's first Hallmark store opened. The chain previously had 32 stores, and will have closed four locations in the last year including the closing of the Herndon location.  Other locations that closed include the Francis Scott Key Mall location in Maryland, the Pentagon Row …

I moved from Herndon several years ago but LOVED this Hallmark store. They always had the type of cards, gifts, and other items that I wanted. There was a Hallmark store on Elden St., years ago, and I truly missed that. Parking there was easier than at Worldgate.
