Police Investigating Workplace Death of Herndon Man
Fairfax County Police are investigating the death of a Herndon man while he was at work in Chantilly.
Fairfax County Police were called to the scene of a workplace accident in the 4100 block of Lafayette Center Drive in Chantilly on Sunday, May 6 at about 3 p.m. Police received a report of an accident involving a forklift operator. During the initial investigation, police and detectives determined that Gerardo Santiago Paulette Ruiz, 47, of Herndon, was operating a forklift in a warehouse area. Police say he attempted to pass through a doorway and the forklift struck an overhead beam, which became dislodged and fell on Ruiz. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
