Herndon Police Report: 26 Incidents of Speeding Reported

Applications being accepted for 2013 HPD Youth Police Academy.

The Herndon Police Department reported the following incidents from Dec. 31, 2012 through Jan. 6, 2013. The following information was supplied by the Herndon Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.   BRUIN DISTRICT • A 19-year-old Reston man was issued a summons for possession of marijuana at 11:52 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 700 block of Alabama Drive. • A 61-year-old man with no fixed address was arrested for being drunk in public at 7:15 p.m. on Jan. 4 in the 900 block of Alabama Drive. • The victim reported that between Dec. 17 and Dec. 31 the hood and top part of their truck was scratched. The incident was reported at 8:17 a.m. on Jan. 2 in the 12000 block of Worldgate Drive. • A noise …

Herndon Police Host Youth Police Academy

Classes will run from Feb. 23 through May 3.

The Herndon Police Department is hosting Youth Police Academy on Thursday's from Feb. 23 to May 3 at the Herndon Police Department.  Youth will attend from 6-9 p.m. each Thursday and will learn about different aspects of police work, including gangs, narcotics, traffic, polygraphing, K-9 units, crime scene investigations and more.  Youth must be between 14-18 years old, though if they will be 14 by the May 3rd graduation they may still participate. An application is attached as a PDF or can be obtained by contacting Officer Henry at the Herndon Police Department at 703-787-7627.
