FNL, The Breeze Host Goodbye Event for Dave Sinclair

Sinclair is a longtime community volunteer.

Those who have been to Friday Night Live, or just about any other event in Herndon that requires volunteers, have run into Dave Sinclair.  The Herndon resident and nonstop community volunteer and his significant other Pam Slabaugh will be leaving Herndon to move to Folly Beach, S.C. after the holidays.  Friday Night Live is hosting a going-away party for the pair at The Breeze in downtown Herndon this Friday. The event begins at 8 p.m. and is open to anyone in the community. Community members who know Sinclair or Slabaugh are welcome to attend to give them their best.  [Want to stay on top of news in Herndon? Sign up for our weekly, daily or breaking news emails.]

Herndon Without Hunger to Feed Hundreds of Area Families

FAITH Social Services' annual Herndon without Hunger program will help feed about 4,000 individuals from throughout the area this Ramadan.

FAITH Social Services 8th annual Herndon without Hunger program is estimated to serve about 4,000 individuals in the next few weeks, providing them with food staples. Iman Khatib and Somayyah Ghariani, coordinators for the program, said the food distribution program happens once a week for four weeks during Ramadan. Khatib and Ghariani said for those organizers and volunteers who are Muslim, the program is especially significant and feeds their spirit because they spend their days fasting during Ramadan, while feeding community members in need. FAITH is a nonprofit that started about 11 years ago as an informal group at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society, before becoming a nonprofit. The Herndon without Hunger program was operating out of …

Meet Goldie - The Sweet and Fluffy Puppy

Goldie Locks is sweet, playful, energetic and eager to please.

Since the loss of power in our region prevented so many from meeting Goldie last week, we are featuring this lovable pup again.  We hope your power is back on, or will be very soon. _____ Hey there. My name is Goldie Locks, but my rescue friends all call me Goldie. I’m a Golden Retriever-Chow mix and weigh about 45 pounds, but still have some filling out to do. I’m only a year old and very much a puppy—sweet, playful, energetic and eager to please. I was rescued out of a shelter in Maryland, after being picked up as a stray. It's hard to believe that no one came looking for me, but here I am ready to find my new family and start my new life. Mutts Matter set me up with a seasoned foster mom, who started working with me right away on basic …
