Area Potters Create Works of Art for Empty Bowls
Empty Bowls raises money for Food for Others, helping feed families and individuals in need in Fairfax County.
Area potters have been busy making bowls that will be used for this year's Empty Bowls event to raise funds to fight hunger. On April 12, the bowls will be given to attendees — along with a dinner of soup, bread and dessert — of Empty Bowls, a fundraiser organized by The Giving Circle of HOPE in support of Food for Others. To prepare for the event, a group of 10 potters have been busy making bowls in the ceramic shop of the Reston Community Center. This group, along with others in the area, will create more than 500 bowls or plates for the event. “Our potters are very giving of their time and show a great deal of generosity in sharing their craft,” said Deb Joder, an instructor at the center in a press release.
