NWFCU, FAN Make Donations to Fairfax Library Foundation

Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation and FAN each donated $1,000 to the Library Foundation.

Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation and the Financial Awareness Network each donated $1,000 to the Fairfax Library Foundation in December to help purchase books on financial education for Fairfax County Public Libraries.   The Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation is the philanthropic and community-oriented foundation of NWFCU, which has offices in Herndon.  "We are incredibly grateful and thrilled to receive a donation from these two organizations," said Susan Harman, executive director of Fairfax Library Foundation in a press release.  "A gift like this truly is a win for everyone: NWFCU Foundation and FAN, Inc, make great strides in Fairfax County in regards to their mission of spreading financial education knowledge, while …

Northwest Federal Credit Union Goes Passionately Pink for the Cure

Area NWFCU employees dressed in pink to support Susan G. Komen's Passionately Pink for the Cure.

Northwest Federal Credit Union raised $1,500 for breast cancer research and awareness at its annual Passionately Pink for the Cure Day.  Employees were able to make $5 donations to Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation to show their support and adorn themselves in pink.  Susan G. Komen's Passionately Pink for the Cure gives workplaces and organizations a way to raise awareness and fund research for breast cancer, as well as honor breast cancer survivors.  “Breast cancer knows no boundaries” said NWFCU Executive Director Linda Rogus in a statement. “By hosting Passionately Pink for the Cure at NWFCU, we can show our coworkers, family and friends afflicted by this disease that we support them. McDonald Chosen as New Northwest Federal Credit Union CEO

Chris McDonald will take over as Northwest Federal Credit Union's CEO in January.

Northwest Federal Credit Union's board of directors announced it has selected Chris McDonald as its new CEO, after Gerrianne D. "Winky" Burks retires in mid-January.  Burks has worked at NWFCU for 41 years. McDonald has worked in the credit union industry for more than 28 years. He started his career as a state regulator before becoming the vice president of finance and information systems at First Community Credit Union in Houston.  McDonald has also worked for credit unions in Texas and Maryland, including as the CEO of Andrews Federal Credit Union in Suitland, MD.
