The Town of Herndon will have special hours for offices and services on Thanksgiving.
The Town of Herndon's government offices and services will be impacted by the Thanksgiving holiday. Town offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday. No refuse will be collected on Thursday. Refuse normally collected on Thursday will be collected Friday instead. The Herndon Community Center will be closed on Thursday. The Community Center will be open on Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Herndon Centennial Golf Course will be open on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The golf course will be open Friday from 8 a.m. until dark. Additionally this week, leaf collection in the Town of Herndon will be held north of the W&OD Bike Trail. Herndon's Hometown Holidays will celebrate the joy of the winter holidays this month and next month with a variety of events. Here are this year's Hometown Holidays events: • Towne Square Singers' Holiday Concert - "Decembers Past" The Towne Square Singers will perform favorite musical numbers from their holidays shows of the past 30 years. Performances are Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 2 at 2 p.m. at Elden Street Players' Industrial Strength Theatre. Tickets are $12. This week is the last of the Herndon Golf Course Summer Camps and the last week of our Readers' Choice poll!
Here's a few things to know about happening in Herndon this week: 1. The last of the Herndon Golf Course Summer Camps will be this week from Tuesday to Thursday. Children and teens can learn the basics of golf, the rules of the game, etiquette and more. 2. The Herndon Rotary Club's weekly meeting will be Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. at Amphora Diner Deluxe. This week's speaker is Dr. Robert Verhalen, who will be discussing the aging crisis faced by the United States. 3. The Herndon Festival will swing into summer with the Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce's annual Herndon Festival Golf Tournament Friday, June 1. The Griffin-Owens & Associates team took first place in the 2011 tournament. There's one week left to register for the tournament, which is sponsored by Systems Furniture Gallery and celebrates Herndon Festival. The tournament takes place at the Herndon Centennial Golf Course and has a captain's choice format. Also included in the tournament is breakfast, lunch by Eggspectation of Chantilly, dinner and beverage carts.
