Tickets are on sale now for the annual Casino Night fundraiser.
With the help of fundraisers, donors and volunteers, Herndon High School's annual All Night Grad Party provides a safe space for the school's graduates to celebrate their graduation. Area residents can head to Herndon United Methodist Church for a gift dinner fundraiser from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30. Attendees can enjoy a dinner together while supporting ANGP. The meal served will be meatloaf, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, rolls and desserts, with some vegetarian dishes. The cost is $5 per person or $15 per family. Also coming up is a Casino Night parent fundraiser for ANGP. From 7 p.m. to midnight on Feb. 9 ANGP supporters can go to The Breeze in downtown Herndon for Casino Night. A group of Herndon High School students will go on to the international competition in April 2013.
Herndon High School Business Department's Business Management Virtual Enterprise Class took first place in a statewide business plan competition in Virginia Beach earlier this month. Twenty one teams participated in the competition, which took place Dec. 12-13. This is the first time a Fairfax County school has placed first in the annual competition. The students created a virtual company in Kathy Thomas' class, wrote a buisness plan, then defended their business plan and financials before three groups of judges. The students requested a startup loan of $284,575 to finance their virtual company, Oshibori Mugs, a company that makes travel mugs that can heat or cool a liquid to the user's desire. Dear Ms. McClellan, First, UPROAR applauds your efforts to protect your school’s position on the renovation queue. We want to point out that the queue will not be revised before the bond vote where Herndon HS will be approved for the planning phase of their renovation. You are not in danger! But please let me point out some incorrect information in your letter to the Herndon Patch editor that I think will help you and the Herndon community better understand UPROAR’s position and the fact that we do not intend to (and actually cannot) affect your placement on the 2013 bond to begin the renovation process for Herndon HS. Herndon High School's athletics department is seeking coaches for its varsity teams. Currently the school is looking for coaches for: • Assistant field hockey • Girls lacrosse • Indoor and outdoor track (discus and shotput) Those interested in applying for a position can contact the school's Student Activities Director, Jonathan Frohm at jonathan.frohm@fcps.edu or by calling 703-810-2211. Fairfax County Public Schools has provisions for non-teaching personnel to coach at county schools. College degrees are not required.
