1. Herndon Community Television is seeking a community volunteer with video editing skills. The organization is looking for creative people who have an interest in working to highlight local events. Volunteers are welcome to use HCTV facilites or work on their home computers. Follow this link for volunteer information. 2. A Herndon family is seeking their dog Sunshine, who wandered off on Saturday evening. She's a friendly beagle-basset hound mix. Dave Sinclair, longtime volunteer, honored by Herndon Council.
Friends, family, acquaintances and organizations who know and work with Dave Sinclair gathered at Tuesday's Herndon Town Council meeting as he was honored by the town for his volunteer work. Sinclair, who is moving to Charleston, SC for his retirement, has been a longtime volunteer in the town. Many people in Herndon recognize Sinclair because of the beaded messages he strings on his beard, or from events such as Friday Night Live. He's often seen at Herndon events behind a camera for Herndon Community Television, and at Elden Street Players' Industrial Strength Theatre. The Herndon Town Council will be discussing the town's Capital Improvement Program at its next public hearing on May 22.
1) The swearing in for the 2012-2014 Herndon Town Council will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 6 p.m. at the Herndon Municipal Center, 777 Lynn St. The new town council begins its duties on July 1, 2012. The swearing in ceremony is open to the public. Local press will have the chance to ask the Herndon Town Council and mayoral candidates up to three questions at the DRCC candidates forum on April 18. We're taking suggestions for questions.
The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce and Herndon Community Television will host their Herndon Candidates Forum on April 18 from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. During the event candidates will make an opening statement that will include resume highlights, their reasons for running and their major issues of concern. The Chamber and HCTV have invited members of the local press, including Herndon Patch editor Leslie Perales, to ask questions of the candidates. There will be a 10-minute intermission, then they will take questions from the audience. What questions do you want answered by the council and mayoral candidates?
