Robert Bowers Jr Receives 'Good Neighbor Award'

Robert "Bobby" Bowers Jr. was chosen as the Town of Herndon's Good Neighbor of the year.  Barbara Glakas, of the Cultivating Community Commission, presented the award to Bowers during Tuesday's Herndon Town Council meeting.  Bowers, who works for the Town of Herndon, was nominated for the award by his neighbor Zubair Saleem. Saleem said it is clear that Bowers cares for his neighbors, the environment and the community.  Glakas read from the nomination form during the event. Saleem also said Bowers is well known for caring for his parents, who live just down the street, lending out his tools and helping neighbors when the snow falls.  [Want to stay on top of news in Herndon? Sign up for our daily or breaking news emails.]

Have a great neighbor? Nominate them for Herndon's Good Neighbor Award.

The Town of Herndon and the Cultivating Community Initiative are seeking to honor those great neighbors who are friendly and helpful.  Do you have a neighbor who helps with neighborhood projects, one who watches pets or homes when owners are on vacation? A neighbor who's friendly and helpful?  They could be honored with the town's 2012 Good Neighbor Award. Nominations are being accepted through Oct. 26. Town residents can nominate a family member, friend or neighbor who helps positively impact the quality of life in their neighborhoods. Recipients must be Town of Herndon residents and the act or acts for which they are nominated for must not have been done as a part of their paid employment.  Good Neighbor Award honorees will be recognized…
