Herndon's Weber's Pet Supermarket Hosts Oakton Baseball Fundraiser

Now through March 30, support Oakton High School baseball when you wash your dog at Weber's in Herndon.

Weber's Pet Supermarket in the Fox Mill Shopping Center in the Herndon area is hosting a fundraiser for the Oakton High School baseball program.  Through March 30, when customers wash their dog at Weber's they can support the Oakton baseball program. The store has three state-of-the-art, self-serve dog wash stations. The stations have stainless steel tubs, temperature controlled water, a variety of shampoos and conditioners, towels, high velocity dryers and treats.  Customers just need to bring in their dogs in need of bathing.  Baths are $16 per dog and $10 from every bath each day will go to the Oakton High School baseball program.  Weber's Pet Supermarket is located at 2599 John Milton Dr., in Herndon. Glory Days Grill Golf Tournament Raises $51K

Glory Days raised a record amount for this year's tournament benefitting Sunshine Foundation.

Glory Days Grill's 25th annual golf tournament raised $51,899 for The Sunshine Foundation and other beneficiaries.  The tournament, held in October at Piedmont Club in Haymarket, raised a record amount in the history of the event. Of the funds raised, $33,000 will benefit The Sunshine Foundation. The remaining $18,899 will be divided among a variety of local charities in the Washington, DC and Baltimore areas. Charities include, Jill's House, Secret Passage Ranch, Arundel House of Hope, Walk for the Cure, and Wounded Warriors among others.  The annual golf tournament has raised more than $302,000 over the past eight years. SPARC Supporters Rock Out for a Good Cause

Event raised money for special programs for adults with disabilities.

A charity fundraising brunch for adults with disabilities mirrored The Kennedy Center's on Sunday as local charity SPARC held its annual music event at The Westin Dulles. More than one hundred people gathered to help the charity raise money for arts and music programs at the organization’s facilities in Reston and McLean. Joining them were Delegate Ken Plum (D-36) and Fairfax County Supervisors Catherine M. Hudgins (Hunter Mill) and John W. Foust (Dranesville). Supervisors Hudgins and Foust recognized individuals for their service to the community and advocacy during the event. Pull a Plane to Support a Cause

Special Olympics Virginia to host 20th Annual Dulles Day Festival Saturday

The Annual Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull is set for this Saturday at the Dulles International Airport. The event is presented by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Special Olympics Virginia. The event will be on more than 100 acres of tarmac at the FedEx Terminal at the airport. Doors will open for the festival at 10:30 a.m. and teams of 25 will begin their attempt at pulling an 82 ton plane at least 12 feet for charity at 11 a.m. Besides the plane pull, other festivities include a kids truck pull, food, pizza eating contest, car show and air show. “This is the 20th anniversary of the Plane Pull,” said Rick Jeffrey, president of Special Olympics Virginia. “It’s a corporate …

Floris UMC Brings 'Music Man' to the Stage

Floris United Methodist's production of The Music Man will help raise funds for Connections for Hope.

Floris United Methodist Church's Contemporary and Traditional Music Ministries are bringing The Music Man to the stage for three performances on Aug. 9, 10 and 11.  The production is a fundraiser for a group of local nonprofit organizations, Connections for Hope, helping those in need in the community.  The Music Man centers on a traveling salesman who sells musical instruments to the people in town with the promise of organizing a boys' band, even though he knows nothing of music. His plan to skip town with the money he makes comes to a halt when he falls in love with the local librarian.  Performances on Aug. 9 and 10 will be at 7 p.m., and the Aug. 11 performance will be at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here. …

Saving Isaac: The Story of a Three-Year-Old's Fight With Illness and Insurance

The Saving Isaac Fundraiser will be held tonight at The Breeze from 4-8 p.m. in downtown Herndon.

Isaac Crawley had just turned one when his insurance company dropped him for hitting his $2 million lifetime maximum. The now three-year-old boy was born with esophageal atresia, a rare condition in which his esophagus—split into two pieces—didn’t connect in the middle. In most cases doctors are able to connect the esophagus after birth, but Isaac has had complications and setbacks that have made the process longer: He has had 21 major surgeries to treat the issue. On Friday, The Breeze in downtown Herndon will be filled with friends and family who love Isaac and want to see him well. Annual FISH Fling Gala and Fundraiser This Saturday

The FISH Fling will feature dinner, dessert, dancing, games, prizes, auctions and more, all to help Herndon-Reston FISH.

The 2012 FISH Fling Gala and Fundraiser, benefitting Herndon-Reston FISH, will take place this Saturday, May 19 at the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel.  The event will include music, dancing, games, prizes, auctions, dinner, dessert and more. Herndon-Reson FISH, which stands for Friendly Instant Sympathetic Help, is a nonprofit organization that has helped area residents during times of need since 1969.  FISH operates a referral hotline, helping more than 100 callers each day to get the resources they need. The group has donated more than $427,000 in emergency assistance payments to help residents in need keep their heat, electricity or other necessities running.  The group also provides round-trip rides to medical appointments for those…

Annual Taste of the Town Takes Over Worldgate Thursday

The 21st annual Taste of the Town will feature food from more than 20 Herndon-area restaurants, entertainment, a silent auction and more.

The 21st annual Taste of the Town, which benefits the Council for the Arts of Herndon, comes to Worldgate again on Thursday, April 19 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.  The event will include entertainment, a silent auction, and food from more than 20 area restaurants.
