Dave Sinclair, longtime volunteer, honored by Herndon Council.
Friends, family, acquaintances and organizations who know and work with Dave Sinclair gathered at Tuesday's Herndon Town Council meeting as he was honored by the town for his volunteer work. Sinclair, who is moving to Charleston, SC for his retirement, has been a longtime volunteer in the town. Many people in Herndon recognize Sinclair because of the beaded messages he strings on his beard, or from events such as Friday Night Live. He's often seen at Herndon events behind a camera for Herndon Community Television, and at Elden Street Players' Industrial Strength Theatre. Those who have been to Friday Night Live, or just about any other event in Herndon that requires volunteers, have run into Dave Sinclair. The Herndon resident and nonstop community volunteer and his significant other Pam Slabaugh will be leaving Herndon to move to Folly Beach, S.C. after the holidays. Friday Night Live is hosting a going-away party for the pair at The Breeze in downtown Herndon this Friday. The event begins at 8 p.m. and is open to anyone in the community. The last Friday Night Live of the season is this week.
This Friday is the last of the Friday Night Live summer concert series on the Town Green in Herndon. The annual series brings many great cover bands to Herndon to perform music everyone can sing and dance to or just chill out to while they relax on the grass. This week's bands are Down Wilson and Almost Journey. Down Wilson performs pop covers including everything from Ace of Base to Maroon 5. Almost Journey is a cover band coming to Herndon all the way from New York to perform the hits of Journey. September events coming up on the Town Green, behind the Herndon Municipal Center, include the Labor Day Festival, JamBrew and the annual AARP Classic Car Show.

There's plenty going on in Herndon this weekend!
FRIDAY • Time Out Wings and Grill will be having Olympics coverage starting at 5 p.m. Friday, along with Olympic food and drink specials. Coverage will be on the big screens at the restaurant and specials will last through the games. • Friday Night Live will feature Kristen and the Noise this week. This week at Friday Night Live, Junk Food will take the stage on the town green at the Herndon Municipal Center. The band performs regularly up and down the East Coast and has a broad range of fans in a variety of venues. From family friendly festivals to summer beach vacationers to college bars, the band has gotten the crowd on its feet. Junk Food is mostly known for their original music but plays covers of hits from the 80s to today. Opening for Junk Food this week is Luster. Drop Dead Sexy and South Bay rocked the massive Friday Night Live crowd on May 11. Share your photos!
May 11 brought no rain, mild temperatures, South Bay and Drop Dead Sexy to the Town Green in Herndon for a packed Friday Night Live experience. South Bay, a local band with connections to the community, played the FNL stage for the second time. Drop Dead Sexy played danceable hit after hit to keep the crowd on its feet and rocking out.
