Still time to enter Herndon's Dress Up Herndon for the Holidays and Patch's Deck the House contests.
This weekend's annual Holiday Model Train Show will take place both Saturday and Sunday for children of all ages as well as kids-at-heart to enjoy. The display will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Herndon Municipal Center, 777 Lynn St. Model trains will be set up throughout the upper floor of the HMC for viewing. Additionally, the red W&OD caboose adjacent to the building will be open for tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Herndon Depot Museum on Lynn Street will also be open for tours throughout the event. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 571-323-5204. We’re launching our annual Deck the House Contest to find the most over-the-top holiday decorations in America — the best “decked” house in the country — the one home so spectacularly decorated that everyone in town jokes your holiday decorations could rival Rockefeller Center’s. If this sounds like your house, upload a photo or video of your home to our contest page between Nov. 26 to Dec. 16 to deckthehouse.patch.com/contest/herndon. Only residents of Patch towns are eligible to enter. We’ll select 24 regional finalists, and from them, pick one grand prize winner. Great points Ann, I am slowly converting things to LED as I go along. Most recent being an LED television. With the timers, definitely don't buy the low end cheapest ones. In all, they are still pretty economical for a quality one.   more ›
