Laptop allegedly stolen at gunpoint in December sale set up on Craigslist.
Detectives from the Herndon Police Department said Wednesday they arrested a suspect in connection with a Craigslist-related robbery in December. Mohamed Darseidia, 25, of Sterling, was arrested and charged with robbery and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for his alleged involvement in the case, police said. Herndon Police said on Dec. 27, the owner of a Mac Pro laptop was attempting to sell the computer to someone he met through Craigslist. He went to meet the possible buyer to sell the laptop in the 1000 block of Elden Street. When the victim arrived at the agreed upon location, the laptop computer was taken when he was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect fled and wasn't heard from again. Detectives conducted an intensive…

Herndon Police say man allegedly held his victims at gunpoint between Jan. 22 and Jan. 30.
Herndon Police arrested a man Thursday who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint on at a hotel on Elden Street — and possibly two other victims in similar crimes this week elsewhere in Fairfax County. Police said Friday they arrested 27-year-old Kenan M. Ozcan of Arlington in connection with the incidents. He is being held with no bond at the Fairfax County jail, facing charges of armed robbery and use of a firearm in connection with a felony from both the Herndon and Fairfax County Police Departments. On Wednesday, a 22-year-old woman reported she was robbed inside a hotel in the 1000 block of Elden Street, where she was a guest. Investigators have accused Caroline of killing a 52-year-old man during an armed robbery last week.
Arlington County police today formally charged 52-year-old James Sylvester Caroline of Washington, D.C., with the murder of a Columbia Pike jewelry store owner. Police arrested Caroline on Wednesday on a probation violation. He has been and will continue to be held without bond, according to police. Caroline is accused of killing Tommy Wong, a 52-year-old Herndon resident, at Capital Jewelers on Columbia Pike during an armed robbery last week. Caroline also is the suspect in a June 9 armed robbery in northwest Washington, according to police. Investigators are not planning on bringing any additional charges against Caroline in relation to the Arlington homicide at this time, police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said. Sternbeck would not …

Family, friends remember homicide victim Tommy Wong.
Tommy Wong always had a kind word for everyone. Wong was found dead late Friday, the victim of what police say was an armed robbery of his Arlington jewelry store earlier that day. But his words — and actions — continue to resonate and touch the lives of people far beyond the Columbia Pike neighborhood where he worked. More than 200 people gathered in front of Capital Jewelers, 3219A Columbia Pike, on Wednesday night for a candlelight vigil in remembrance of Wong. One after another, family members, friends, customers and people who just work in the neighborhood took turns memorializing Wong, 52, of Herndon. A candlelight memorial will be held tonight for a 52-year-old jewelry store owner who was killed at his Columbia Pike business late last week. The memorial will be from 8 to 9 p.m. in front of Capital Jewelers, 3219A Columbia Pike, between Walter Reed Drive and Glebe Road, according to signs posted at the store. Police found Tommy Wong of Herndon dead late Friday at the jewelry store. His family called police after they were unable to reach him. Investigators believe Wong was killed during an armed robbery by a man wearing a yellow reflective vest at about 4 p.m. that day. Wong, by all accounts, was a kind-hearted, hard-working family man.
