This Week: Dine Out for Herndon High Sports, 'Trunk or Treat' and More

A quick glance at what's going on this week in and around Herndon.


Fundraiser Dinner for Herndon High Sports: Take a break from cooking, and benefit Herndon High Sports students and programs at the same time. Plus, who doesn't love a little Chipotle? Come to Chipotle between the hours of 5 to 9 p.m. this Tuesday, Oct. 29 and a percentage will benefit student athletes and athletic programs at Herndon High School. Just mention Herndon High when you pay for your order. Chipotle, 12150 Sunset Hills Rd., across from the Reston Target.

Trunk or Treat: Bring the kids to a wholesome and family-friend Trunk or Treat event at Floris United Methodist Church. Car trunks will be decorated and full of candy for trick-or-treaters, plus there will be bouncy houses, food, games and more. It's all free! This Thursday, Oct. 31, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Floris UMC, 13600 Frying Pan Road, Oak Hill/Herndon. Rain or shine.

Candidates for Delegate Forum: The Dulles Regional Chamber of Commerce will host the two candidates for Delegate of the 86th District (Herndon) on Monday, 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Featuring Democrat Jennifer Boysko and Republican incumbent Tom Rust. Free. Herndon Council Chambers, 765 Lynn St. The forum will be televised on HC-TV (Channel 23 in Herndon). Residents can call in questions between 7:30-8:30 p.m. to 703-689-2328, and members of the audience may possibly have the opportunity to submit written questions. 

Children's Theater: 'Go, Dog. Go!': NextStop Theatre in Herndon (formerly Elden Street Players) presents a fun show for the whole family. Interactive and engaging. Remaining showtimes include Saturdays Nov. 2 and 9 at noon and 3 p.m.; and Sundays Nov. 3 and 10, 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 each for adults and all children over the age of 2. 55+ and Looking for a Way to Give Back? RSVP-Northern Virginia engages persons 55 and older in volunteer service "to meet critical community needs while providing a high-quality experience that will enrich the lives of the volunteers." RSVP recruits volunteers, assesses their availability and skills, and then matches their interests, skills and experience with the best volunteer placement. As an added benefit to volunteers, RSVP members are eligible to receive mileage and meal reimbursement, supplemental insurance while serving, and ongoing group service and recognition events. Attend an information session/orientation this Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 3 p.m. at the Reston Library, 11925 Bowman Towne Drive. To RSVP, click here.
