READ: Cheer on the Herndon High Hornets This Weekend for Homecoming
So, if you have plans to head out to the festivities Saturday morning, you'll want to know about several road closures and detours that will be in place for the Homecoming Parade.
As early as 6 a.m., police will shut down Sterling Road between Herndon Parkway and Elden Street, and Crestview Drive at Herndon Parkway.
No later than 8:30 a.m., police will shut down Elden Street from Sterling to Monroe, and will start closing down some side streets as well, including Ferndale, Grace, School Street, Main Drive, Peachtree, Spruce, Center and Station Street.
By 8:30 a.m., Lynn Street will also be closed.
Parade participants will begin staging on Sterling Road, where the parade will kick off at 9:30 a.m.
The parade will take off on Sterling and then turn left onto Elden Street and head into downtown.
The parade will travel down Elden until it turns onto Lynn Street and travel down to Center Street, where Herndon Town Councilmembers and Mayor Lisa Merkel will have a grandstand from which they will judge this year's floats.
Police said, parking is available anywhere where there are no road closures. Some parking will be open downtown, and on Sterling Road.
There will be no shuttles.
NOTE: The Homecoming Parade will take place rain or shine.
