Labor Day Festival, Jazz and Blues, 'Sound of Music' Sing-a-Long and More

Rashida Jolley will headline the 7th Annual Lake Anne Jazz and Blues Festival on Saturday. Jolley recent became a fan favorite on “America’s Got Talent.” The festival will be held rain or shine. Free. From 1-8 p.m. at Lake Anne Plaza, 1609 Washington Plaza, Reston.

Good Shepherd Catholic Church hosts its second 5K run on Saturday. The will also be a 1K youth run. Online registration ends at noon Friday. Limited registration will also be available the morning of the race from 6:45-7:45 a.m. $25, with discount prices for children and for 1K participants. The run begins at 8 a.m. Saturday at 8710 Mount Vernon Hwy. Alexandria. The event is a kickoff to the International Festival planned for Monday.

Wineries, microbreweries and artisans will be participating in the Herndon Labor Day Festival on Monday. There will also be live music, culinary demonstrations and food vendors at the event on the Town Green. $10, $20 for wine tastings and two beer tickets. Noon to 6 p.m. at 777 Lynn Street, Herndon.

Sing-a-Long ‘Sound of Music’ returns to the Wolf Trap on Saturday. The popular tradition gets the crowd involved with goodie bags full of props to use during the screening, along with a costume contest. From $20. 7:15 p.m. at the Filene Center, 1645 Trap Road, Vienna. Also this weekend: STS9 & Umphrey’s McGee performs Sunday.

Fairfax County Parks hosts an “All About Bats” campfire at Hidden Oaks Nature Center on Saturday. Attendees will toast marshmallows while learning bat facts and hearing an American Indian story of how bats got their wings. $6 per person. 7 p.m. at Hidden Oaks, 7701 Royce Street, Annandale.
