Celebrate Memorial Day in Herndon

On Monday: Avenue of the Flags on display, local American Legion Post and Town to hold ceremony at Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

Monday is more than just a day off (for those of us that have it off) - it's a day to honor those who have fought for our country.

In Herndon, the Town observes Memorial Day in a special way each year. This year, the celebration will take place Monday morning at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery.

The Avenue of Flags will be on display from morning to dusk at the Chestnut Grove Cemetery. The display now consists of 57 veteran casket flags, displayed from the main gate to the side gate. Each flag has a marker identifying the veteran. The display can be viewed on foot or in your car.

For more information regarding the Memorial Day ceremony, call Post Commander David Kirby at 703-481-6189.
