This Week: Bach to Rock Concert, 'Seussical' and More

Veterans Day Observance. Town of Herndon staff and elected officials, along with members of the American Legion's Wayne M. Kidwell Post 184, will hold a public observance of Veterans Day on Monday morning. The event will take place at 11 a.m. by the Veterans Memorial on the Town Green in downtown behind the Municipal Building at 777 Lynn St. The Herndon High School Junior Naval ROTC will form the color guard and present the colors for the ceremony. Following the observance, members of the Herndon Woman's Club will serve coffee and refreshments. The public is invited to attend.

Should Fairfax County Adopt a Meal Tax? The League of Women Voters will host a discussion on this topic on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Reston Art Gallery, 11400 Washington Plaza West, Lake Anne. All are invited to attend. For more information, call 703-757-5893.

Christmas Sale for a Good Cause. The Closet of Greater Herndon, a nonprofit thrift shop, will hold a special sale of its Christmas inventory this Friday, 2-5 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anything and everything related to the holiday, from ornaments and dishes to Santas and nativity scenes. Herndon High Presents 'Seussical.' The students of Herndon High's theater department are excited to present a colorful, imaginative and spirited production of Seussical the musical this weekend. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 15 and 16, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at herndondrama.org or at the door.

Get Your Hands Dirty in the Name of the Environment. Members of the Herndon Environmental Network will hold an invasive plant removal this Saturday at 10 a.m., and all are welcome to join in. They will meet at the end of Cavendish Street in Herndon, off Herndon Parkway, and work until 11:30 a.m. or so. Bach to Rock Concert With Local Students. Jimmy's Old Town Tavern will play host to student bands from the local Bach to Rock program this Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. Come out and taste the local fare as you listen to some local talent—and it's a family-friendly event, so the kids can come too. 697 Spring St, Herndon.
