This Week: An Artistic Journey to Italy, Toe-Tapping Bluegrass, Lunch for the Soul and More

The Artists of Montorno. 
This latest ArtSpace Herndon exhibit offers a glimpse into the Montorno Studio in Seravezza, Italy. The exhibit features work by Montorno instructors Trisha Adams, Danni Dawson, Mary Del Popolo, Peggy Feerick, Mike Francis, Gavin Glakas, and Kurt Schwartz, who are all locally and internationally known artists. Portraits, landscapes, still-life paintings, sculptures, drawings, pastels, printmaking, and photography are all featured. ArtSpace is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this week, then closes through the weekend and re-opens the following Tuesday, Dec. 3. 750 Center St., Herndon. Click here for more information.

Volunteers Needed at 'Lunch for the Soul.'Trinity Presbyterian Church in Herndon, along with Oakbrook Church in Reston and Riverside Presbyterian in Sterling, will provide a hot, nutritious Thanksgiving meal and spiritual services for local day laborers this Wednesday at noon, and volunteers are needed to help cook and serve the meal. In-kind food donations and financial contributions are also welcomed. 651 Dranesville Road, Herndon. For more information, email lunch_for_soul_ldr@trinityherndon.org.

It Was All Just a Wonderful Dream—Or Was It? 
Share in a beloved holiday tradition this year by bringing the family to see Herndon-based group Classical Ballet Theatre's production of The Nutcracker. This Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 1. at 2 p.m. Ernst Theater, Northern Virginia Community College, 8333 Little River Turnpike, Annandale. Tickets are $18-25 each. Thanksgiving Youth Tennis Tournament. There's still time to register your pre-teen for the Thanksgiving Youth Tennis Tournament, hosted by the Herndon Parks and Recreation Department. The event is open to boys and girls age 10 to 12, and will take place this Friday to Sunday, Nov. 29 to Dec. 1. The format of the tournament is "Round Robin," followed by single elimination for the top four players. Register your child for the tournament online here. Weekend Bluegrass Concert Series. See two talented musicians, together in one concert—Jimmy Gadreau and Orrin Starr. Enjoy the sounds of mandolin, guitar, and even a touch of comedy by Orrin. This Saturday, Nov. 30 at 7:30 p.m. Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1090 Sterling Road, Herndon. Admission is $15 per person, and children 12 and under are free.
