Roller Derby Bout Pits Vixens Against Betties

The women on wheels have fun, do charitable work and invite the public to the after party.

The Beltway Betties hope to knock the Vineyard Vixens off their winning streak during this weekend’s NOVA Roller Derby bout at the Dulles SportsPlex, 21610 Atlantic Boulevard.

The teams begin the battle at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18.

The Vixens beat the Betties when the two met in May during the Betties’ inaugural bout, and the Betties have worked hard ever since to redeem themselves.

The growing NOVA Roller Derby family — which today includes skaters, referees and volunteers — was founded in April 2011. The league is a member of Modern Athletic Derby Endeavor (M.A.D.E.) and follows M.A.D.E. rules. Through strong community partnership, the league focuses on serving our local community through volunteerism.
