Herndon Optimist Club Awards High School Scholarships

Three area students have a leg up in their future college careers, thanks to the Herndon Optimist Club.

"We had 14 strong candidates this year for the scholarships and were excited to present the awards," said club member Mike Moore.

The three 2013 winners were presented their awards during the Partnership in Education award dinner on May 20. 

Sarah Betti received the Jerry Yates Memorial Scholarship. Sarah graduated from Herndon High School on Tuesday, and plans to attend Haverford College.

Austin Lynch and Amanda Gatti were the other two winners. Austin and Amanda are graduating from O'Connell High School in Arlington to attend the  University of Virginia this fall.

'The Herndon Optimist Club congratulates the 2013 scholarship winners," Moore added.
