Dominion Trail Mix to Take Over W&OD Trail

Dominion Trail Mix's Hail the Trail is open to registrants who want to volunteer during the biggest trail cleanup in the W&OD's history.

The Greater Washington Sports Alliance and Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority are seeking registrants for the 10 stations along Hail the Trail during Dominion Trail Mix set to take place in October. 

During the event volunteers will weed, repair kiosks, clean up litter and plant along the ten stations on the W&OD Trail. Hail the Trail and Dominion Trail Mix will take place on October 20, celebrating the trail as an important resource for those living in Northern Virginia. 

The stations along the trail include: Purcellville Station in Purcellville, Clarks Gap Station in Leesburg, Claiborne Station in Ashburn, Pacific Station in AShburn, Herndon Station in Herndon, Wiehle Station in Reston, Park Station in Vienna, Idylwood Station in Falls Church, Gallows Station in Dunn Loring, and Bon Air Station in Arlington County.

Last year Hail the Trail became the largest cleanup on the W&OD Trail in history. More than 400 volunteers took part across eight different sites. They also raised $20,000 for the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority Foundation's Nature Nuts Program. 

The Dominion Trail Mix includes three events, including Hail the Trail, The Great Skedaddle and the Anthem Presents Trailfest and the Living Well Expo. The Great Skedaddle includes a 5K and a 5- or 10-mile bike ride along the trail. The day will conclude with the Anthem Presents Trailfest and the Living Well Expo.

The Trailfest and Living Well Expo will include a family friendly afternoon with usic, exhibitors and activities encouraging area residents to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Both events will take place at Farmwell Station Middle School in Ashburn, and are free and open to the public.
