NextStop Theatre presents Alfred Hitchcock's THE 39 STEPS

NextStop Theatre Company is proud to announce their 2013/14 season premiere production of the Tony Award©-winning adventure comedy, Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps, directed by NextStop Artistic Director Evan Hoffmann.  Performances begin on September 26th at the Industrial Strength Theatre in Herndon for this madcap cross between a 1930’s film noir spy thriller and a slapstick British farce.

The production will star James Finley as the dashing hero, Richard Hannay and Emily Levey as Annabella, Pamela, and Margaret, the three beautiful women that he encounters during his action-packed adventure.  Joining them will be actors Nick Rose and Evan Crump, who will take on every other character, totaling over 140!

“We have assembled a very special and unbelievably talented cast for our first production as NextStop Theatre Company,” said Hoffmann.  “James, Emily and Evan are all highly respected actors in the DC professional theatre community, with credits from some of the best theatres in our region.  Meanwhile, we are delighted beyond words to have Nick Rose coming all the way from Cincinnati to appear at the Industrial Strength Theatre for the first time in over two decades!”

Mr. Rose is a celebrated actor in the Cincinnati theatre community with deep roots in the Herndon.  In 1988, while still a student at Herndon High School, Rose was the writer and director of “Death by Direction,” the very first show ever produced by the Elden Street Players, the organization which recently evolved into NextStop Theatre Company.  Rose went on to attend James Madison University and later relocated to Ohio to help found the Cincinnati Shakespeare Company, where he has served as a company member for over twenty years.

The 39 Steps also features a high caliber production team consisting of both new and familiar faces to the company, including James Villarubia (scenic design), AnnMarie Castrigno (lighting design), Jenny O’Donnell (costume design), Kevin Laughon (props design), and Kat Brais (hair/makeup design).  Susan d. Garvey is the Production Manager and Alexis Rose and Laura Moody serve as Co-Stage Managers.
