The got a little damp on Friday evening as severe thunderstorms and heavy rains moved through the area, triggering some flash flood warnings and tornado watches. Herndon Festival staffers, volunteers and carnival workers still came out to serve those who were willing to brave the rain. The festival ended up closing early on Friday, and organizers shut it down at about 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday should be in the mid- to high-70s at the festival and mostly sunny.
