NWS: Heat Advisory Issued for Wednesday

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday, when heat indexes are expected to be about 105 degrees.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday for the region.

The heat advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with heat index values expected to be at about 105 degrees. High temperatures in the region will hit about 100 degrees. Addtionally, there is a 30 percent chance of rain and possible isolated thunderstorms on Wednesday afternoon. 

The heat advisory means there will be a combination of hot temperatures and high humidity, and heat-related illnesses will be more possible.

Area residents are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioned buildings or rooms, and stay out of the sun. Residents should also check on their elderly relatives and neighbors.

When outside, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Don’t leave children or pets unattended in vehicles. Temperatures in vehicles can quickly hit 130 degrees or higher on hot days.
