Herndon and Fairfax County Fourth of July Schedules

What's open and what's closed in Herndon and the surrounding area for the Fourth of July.

The Town of Herndon's government offices and other services will be impacted by the Fourth of July holiday. 

The town's offices will be closed on Wednesday. Recycling will be collected as normal. The Herndon Community Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Herndon Centennial Golf Course will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Fairfax County's government offices and services will be impacted as well, as follows:

County Government – Closed

Courts – Closed

Fairfax Connector – Operating a Saturday schedule on July 4. Routes with Saturday service operate according to the Saturday schedule. Routes without Saturday service will not operate.

Fastran – Not in service

Park Authority – RECenters will open on regular schedule and close at 4 p.m., except George Washington RECenter, which will be closed. Nature centers open noon to 5 p.m.; historic sites open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Frying Pan Farm Park open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; visitor center open from 10 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Green Spring Gardens open noon to 4:30 p.m.; historic house closed.

Teen and Senior Centers – Closed

Community Centers – Closed

McLean Community Center and Old Firehouse Teen Center – Closed

The McLean Community Center's fireworks celebration is at Langley High School beginning at 8 p.m.

Reston Community Center Hunters Woods – Open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Reston Community Center Lake Anne – Open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

County Trash and Recycling Collection – Regular collection

Recycling and Disposal Facilities at I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill Complex – Open
