Five Things to Know: Saturday at Herndon Festival

Today should be a dry, mostly sunny day at Herndon Festival. Here's some highlights of the day.

Today’s high is 74 degrees and partially cloudy—great Herndon Festival weather. Here are a few tips on what’s happening today at the festival. 

1. The Kid’s Alley and Children’s Hands-On Art Area will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lot at the intersection of Lynn and Station streets, offering arts and craft projects for children, as well as a number of roving street performers, including The Unicycle Lady, a stilt walker, spoon player and Jake the Magician.

2. The Business Expo will feature area businesses and will also be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Business Expo will also include 7/11 at the upper end of Pine Street offering free Slurpees and Flagship Carwash raffling off a free year of car washes.

3. There will be plenty of entertainment throughout the day on three stages. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the Herndon Municipal Center Stage will have family-friendly entertainment. From 11 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. there will be a variety of entertainment on the Café Stage from a local classical and jazz guitarist to a capella group Vox Pop. The Depot Stage will feature rising star entertainment from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., including Ducky Duke and The Vintage, Dana Alexandra and more. Saturday’s evening entertainment will include Brass Transit, a Chicaco tribute band, on the Herndon Municipal Center Stage from 7:30-9:30 p.m., and upbeat, pop-rock group Locksley on the Depot Stage from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

4. The second fireworks show of Herndon Festival will be at about 9:30 p.m. tonight. The show will be choreographed to music for those watching at the festival, with a variety of special effects.

5. Herndon Festival attendees can buy an all-you-can-ride wristband on Saturday that will be good from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $16. Wristbands will be sold at the carnival ticket booths. Tickets are regularly $1 for a single ticket, $25 for a book of 30 tickets, or $40 for a book of 50 tickets.
