Tech Savvy Girls Meet in Herndon

The technology camp program for girls was held at Frying Pan Farm Park in June.

DigitalKidz brought together a group of girls for Tech Savvy Girls camp at in late June, where girls got to learn about technology and how it impacts their lives

Sandra Beyer, executive director of DigitalKidz, wanted to enhance the learning experience of the girls in the tech camp by bringing in guest speakers. Nancy Lamberton, president of Women in Technology, came to speak to the group. 

Lamberton provided information on different jobs available in the technology field, how technology can be applied and how to prepare for the future.

"The students loved having a guest speaker and after being motivated by her speech, they're all very anxious to make an impact in the world of technology," Beyer said in a press release.

Lamberton said it was inspiring to see the girls' enthusiasm and discuss how they use technology today, as well as how important it is to their futures. She said, "Building that interest in technology and the confidence to pursue a technology career starts at an early age and needs to be continually nurtured."

During Tech Savvy Girls camp, attendees were able to design a fashion trends website, edit photos of themselves and friends, learn about graphic design and animation, musical composition, design video games and create digital videos.
