2014 Youth Police Academy Applications Available

For ages 14-17, from July 2-11, 2014.

From the Herndon Police Department:

The Herndon Police Department is now seeking teens age 14-17 to attend the upcoming Youth Police Academy, July 7-11, 2014.  The Youth Police Academy offers area teens a better understanding of the Police Department and a greater awareness of the daily challenges faced by police officers.
  
The Youth Police Academy is a week long program that will provide members a unique view of the Herndon Police Department. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about topic such as; criminal investigations, traffic enforcement/safety, K-9, forensics and evidence collection as well as other law enforcement related topics. 
  
The Youth Police Academy will be held Monay July 7, 2014 through Friday July 11, 2014 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  at the Herndon Police Department, 397 Herndon Parkway, Herndon, Virginia 20170. 

The best part about the program is...it's FREE!
  
Applicants must provide their own transportation to and from training. Acceptance into the program is subject to review of applicant's criminal record and police contact history.
