Herndon, South Lakes Film Video Encouraging 'Friendly Feud' Instead of Hateful Rivalry

Check out the final score and who made the game-winning field goal, and see just what this video is all about.

Fans say the Baron Cameron Bowl Friday night was a crowded and spirited place to be.

In the end, the Herndon Hornets were bested by the South Lakes Seahawks, 10-7. This is the second year in a row that South Lakes beat Herndon, though only the third time in the past 11 years.

The game-winning field goal was reportedly made by senior South Lakes player Matt Kearns.

Though some on Twitter call the rivalry between Herndon and South Lakes "the best rivalry in NoVA" and "unmatched in its hatred," other students are trying to set an example by turning the rivalry into more of a "friendly feud."

Both schools released the above video on YouTube promoting friendly competition between the schools, particularly in light of recent graffiti incidents at both schools that damaged South Lakes' new turf field.

The video shows students from both schools wishing each other the best, encouraging they strive to be the best they can be both on and off the field, and shaking each others' hands.

The video includes remarks from the coaches of both teams, and encourages students to "keep the rivalry tame."
