New Rates Set for Herndon Centennial Golf Course

The new rates will take effect March 15

Earlier this week the Herndon Town Council voted to set new fees for the Herndon Centennial Golf Course.

The new rates go into effect March 15 and will remain the same through March, 14, 2012. In season rates are from March 15 through Nov. 30 and off-season rates are from Dec. 1 through March 14.

Weekday rates are from Monday through 11 a.m. Friday. Weekend rates go into effect at 11:01 a.m. Friday through Sunday and includes all holidays. Twilight hours are from 3-6 p.m. and late twilight is after 6 p.m. from April through October.

The new fees for Herndon residents are as follows:
• Weekday – 18 holes: $21 in season, $17 off-season
• Weekday – 9 holes: $18 in season, $14 off-season
• Weekend – 18 holes: $30 in season, $26 off-season
• Weekend – 9 holes: $22 in season, $18 off-season
• Weekday Sr./Jr. – 18 holes: $17 in season, $13 off-season
• Weekday Sr./Jr. – 9 holes: $12 in season, $8 off-season
• Sr. Weekday annual pass: $660
• Jr. Weekday annual pass: $225
• Weekday annual pass: $820
• Seven-day annual pass: $1,600

The new fees for nonresidents are as follows:
• Weekday – 18 holes: $33 in season, $29 off-season
• Weekday – 9 holes: $24 in season, $20 off-season
• Weekday – Twilight - $28 in season, no off-season
• Weekend – 18 holes: $47 in season, $43 off-season
• Weekend – 9 holes: $28 in season, $24 off-season
• Weekend – Twilight: $28 in season, no off-season
• Weekend – Late Twilight: $23 in season, no off-season
• Weekday annual pass: $1,025
• Seven-day annual pass: $2,000

The updated nonresident Senior/Junior rates are as follows:
• Weekday – 18 holes: $24
• Weekday – 9 holes: $17
• Sr. weekday annual pass: $825
• Jr. weekday annual pass $275

Cart fees (before taxes) are as follows:
• 18 holes – per person: $15.24 in season, $11.43 off-season
• 9 holes – per person: $10.48 in season, $6.67 off-season
• Twilight hours – per person: $10.48
• Annual pass cart upgrade: $600

The staff at the golf course recommended establishing a fee policy for Town resident greens fees that would provide for a 20 percent discount off what the nonresident rate is set at. Town rates that are currently provide more than a 20 percent discount will be increased 10 percent annually until the 20 percent discount is reached.

The Herndon Centennial Golf Course is an enterprise fund, meaning it has to bring in enough money from golfers and sales to cover its personnel, operating, capital and debt service costs. The staff at the course studied other area golf course facilities to compare services and costs.
