Herndon Hornets Wrestling Team Places at Patriot Classic
Plus, Hornet senior Sean Pike takes first place in his weight division.
Highlighted by a first-place finish at 160 lbs. by Sean Pike (sr.), the Herndon Hornets wrestling team placed sixth at the 24-team Patriot Classic wrestling tournament this past weekend at Northern High School in Owings, Md.
Herndon finished with 138.50 points in the team competition, while seven Hornets reached the podium.
In addition to Sean Pike, six more Hornets placed: Justin Hisel (soph.) took fifth at 113, H.T. Elston (soph.) took second at 120, Erick Emelio (soph.) finished fifth at 126, Sam Milligan (soph.) placed 2nd at 138, Bassam Estwani (sr.) earned second at 170, and Arbaz Hussein (jr.) placed fifth at 195.

Herndon head coach Mike Gonzales said, “I am pleased with the team’s performance. We had a lot of good things happen. Obviously Sean Pike put together an amazing tournament by beating a quality wrestler in the finals.”
Herndon returns to dual competition this Wednesday, Jan. 15 to face the #4 ranked Chantilly Chargers at Chantilly. Junior varsity action starts at 6 p.m., with varsity following up at 7:30 p.m.
