Herndon Hornets Finish Third at Sterling Lions Tournament

Several team members also took top four placements in their respective weight classes as well.

With a pair of champions in Sam Milligan (132lbs.) and Sean Pike (160lbs.), the Herndon Hornets wrestling team finished third at the 35th annual McGowan Invitational hosted by the Sterling Lions at Park View High School Saturday night, said Head Coach Mike Gonzales. 

In addition to winning the 160lbs title, Pike was named Most Valuable Wrestler. Woodgrove won the team title, while Potomac Falls was the runner-up.

In addition to Milligan and Pike, five Hornets placed in the top four of their respective weight classes. Marshall Kurtz (132lbs.) finished fourth, Joey Reilly (145lbs.) finished fourth, Bassam Estwani (170lbs.) finished third, Arbaz Hussein (195lbs.) finished third, and Casey Holland (HWT) finished second.

The Hornets returned to action again Wednesday night Dec. when they traveled to Fairfax to face No. 1 Robinson Rams and conference rival Oakton Cougars.
