The Herndon Hornets wrestling team traveled to cross-town rival South Lakes on Wednesday and came away with a rousing 62-18 victory.

Despite not being able to practice on Monday and Tuesday due to the snow storm, the dual meet was wrestled in front of a crowded gym.

The Hornets won 11 of 14 bouts, earning pins from sophomores H.T. Elston (120lbs.), Erick Emelio (126lbs.), Sam Milligan (138lbs.), and Abel Hernandez (220lbs.); junior Bo Shull (113lbs.); and seniors Joey Reilly (145lbs.), Sean Pike (160lbs.), Bassam Estwani (170lbs.), and Casey Holland (HWT).

Junior Danny Vedova earned an 18-3 technical fall, and sophomore Marshall Kurtz pulled off an exciting 7-6 come-from-behind decision.

This win moves the Hornets to a 6-0 record to start the season.

The Hornets will compete in the 10-team Sterling Lions Invitational at Park View this Saturday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m.

Herndon hopes to improve on their fourth-place finish from last year, said Head Coach Mike Gonzalez.
