National Capital Open Tae Kwon Do Championship

H. K. Lee Academy of Tae Kwon Do of Herndon, Va., will host the National Capital Open Tae Kwon Do Championship. This event attracts approximately 2,000 people, including competitors, coaches, officials, special guests and spectators. All proceeds from spectator admissions will benefit the South Lakes High School Athletic Booster Club and is one of the Club’s largest fundraiser.

“This fine event is considered to be one of the largest Tae Kwon Do tournaments on the East Coast,” said Grandmaster H. K. Lee of the H. K. Lee Academy of Tae Kwon Do, who has been instructing the art of Tae Kwon Do in Herndon, Va., for more than 30 years. “Students learning the art of Tae Kwon Do are taught to discover that good citizenship, sportsmanship, and self improvement are more important than winning trophies and medals. The sport teaches students to respect each other and exhibit character traits that make good role models in local communities. This has been the focus of the National Capital Open since its inception, and also why so many Masters and Grandmasters continue to return with their students year after year.”
