Ceremonies Set for Grand Opening of Arrowbrook Park

Ribbon cutting ceremonies marking the official opening of Arrowbrook Park will take place in Herndon at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The public is invited to join local officials, Park Authority leadership, and project team members in celebrating the opening of the new park. Arrowbrook Park is located at 2351 Field Point Road in Herndon, VA.

The 23-acre park, part of the planned Arrowbrook Centre mixed-use development, was proffered to the Park Authority in 2005. The centerpiece of Arrowbrook Park is a state-of-the art, lighted, synthetic-turfed athletic field.

The park also includes a creative playground, two lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, a field-sized picnic pavilion, along with the Park Authority's first bocce court.

Among the attractions will be periodic musical and other exhibitions of public interest planned and sponsored through a unique partnership between the Park Authority and Arrowbrook Management Corporation (AMC), the property owners' association for Arrowbrook Centre.

The property on which Arrowbrook Centre is being built originally belonged to Hal and Ruth Launders who purchased the land shortly after WWII and established Arrowhead Farm. The couple raised cattle and were active in the community for over a half century. Their community spirit continues to impact the area through the efforts of The Hal and Ruth Launders Charitable Trust. The Launders Pavilion in Arrowbrook Park is named in their honor.
