The Dranesville Church of the Brethern could use your help of Washington, D.C. Preparations will start at 2:30 p.m., and the group leaves for D.C. at about 5 p.m. Come make a difference in someone’s life this holiday season.
You can help out another way on Saturday, and still fit in a good workout with the annual 5K. Participants are asked to bring canned food donations along with their registration fee, to support local food banks. The race starts at the Herndon Community Center at 4 p.m. Registration is $15.
Sunday
The Breeze in Herndon is sponsoring a . You can make a donation during normal business hours on Sunday to help the restaurant assemble at least four completed Thanksgiving baskets. The donations will be distributed to families in the area. Check out the link for a list of items needed.
Come support Herndon High School with your purchases from the school's . The event will be held at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Reston. A portion of designated purchases will benefit Herndon High School programs.
If you've ever wanted to give adult hoopdance a try, Sunday is a great day to do it at the Herndon Community Center. Herndon Patch's own Leslie Perales, a certified a Hoopnotica instructor, is hosting an at 2 p.m. for those who want to come practice their hoop skills or try hooping for the first time. Leslie can provide hoops for those who are curious to try it. Just pay the regular HCC daily rate ($6 for in-town residents and $7 for out-of-town residents), there's no extra cost to come hoop.
