The Herndon High marching band hopes you'll consider donating it to the group this month.
As part of a fundraiser to help get the band to Hawaii this December - the band is the only one from Northern Virginia invited to march in the Pearl Harbor Day memorial parade - the band is collecting recyclable electronics and gold and silver jewelry.
"EcoPhones will recycle your old cell phones, laptop computers, ink jet cartridges, iPods, iPads and tablets, digital cameras, and gold, silver and platinum jewelry," the band said on their website.
"Consider asking family, friends, neighbors and co-workers if they have old phones and electronics they’d like to dispose of," the group explains. "Donated item(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations."
The band added, "One-hundred percent of the proceeds will help fund Herndon Band’s upcoming trip to Hawaii."
A gray collection box is located in the band room on the Herndon High campus, 700 Bennett St., for donation drop-offs.
For larger items or to make arrangements for donation, contact Robin Handy at 412-327-9276 or email@example.com.
Donations will be collected through Oct. 31.
