St. Joseph Students Collect Eyeglasses for OneSight

OneSight helps provide free glasses for those in need.

Eighth grade students from St. Joseph Catholic School spent the last few weeks collecting eyeglasses for OneSight, an organization that helps provide glasses for those in need.

The collection was started by Abigail DiOrio. She and her fellow students were able to collect and deliver more than 100 pairs of glasses.

OneSight, a foundation of the Luxottica Eyewear Group, works to refurbish and distribute the glasses and has provided more than 8 million glasses since the organization began. Employees and members of the organization travel to South America to provide glasses, as well as working to provide free glasses for local families in need.

Niamh DiOrio said the project motivated St. Joseph students to continue spreading the word. The school will continue to keep a box for the collection of eyeglasses in the lobby for community members to donate.
