St. Joseph Girl Scouts Create Dinner Kits to Feed 400

The Girl Scouts from St. Joseph's School created 100 tuna noodle casserole dinner kits on March 23, enough to feed about 400 people.

The Girl Scouts, Daisies and Brownies of St. Joseph's School in Herndon learned about how they were able to help families in need by providing tuna noodle casserole dinner kits on Friday, March 23.

The school has 161 girl scouts and many of them were present for the Feed a Family Youth Service Project, said Rosemary DeBenedittis, St. Joseph Girl Scout Coordinator. They gathered in a meeting room, lining up like an assembly line to fill bags with cans of tuna, cream of mushroom soup and pasta noodles. Then they included a recipe card and notes from the girls.

Troop Leader Fiona McMahon said the tuna noodle casserole kits were chosen for the project because they are high in omega 3s, have lots of protein and there aren't many allergies to the ingredients included. Additionally, a fish meal was chosen because it is Lent. The kits were then donated to Catholic Charities Diocese of Arlington.
