Herndon Robotics Headed to New Orleans

HHS' FIRST Robotics Team 116 is starting its competition season.

Herndon High School’s award-winning FIRST robotics team 116, Epsilon Delta, will compete at the Bayou Regional competition in New Orleans March 17-19.

This year, the team built its robot to compete in a game called LogoMotion. Six teams from around the country will compete in each round. They will play on a 27-by-54-foot field and the robots will have to hoist red, white and blue inflated shapes onto beams. While the robots work on that task, mini robots will climb vertical poles to gain more points.

The goal of FIRST is “to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership,” said a press release from the group.
