Dominion Gives Grants to Area Schools

Awards for Northern Virginia schools presented at Dominion's Herndon office.

Dominion Power awarded thousands of dollars in educational grants this month to schools throughout the Northern Virginia region.

The grants ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.

• Greenville Elementary in Fauquier County
• Bush Hill Elementary in Fairfax County
• Newington Forest Elementary in Fairfax County
• Potowmack Elementary in Loudoun County
• The Alexandria Seaport Foundation
• City of Manassas Public Schools
• Prince William County Public Schools
• Lord Fairfax Community College
• Westlawn Elementary School in Fairfax County
• Spotsylvania High School
• Virginia Tech

The education partnership awards program received about 200 submissions this year. Grant requests went through three rounds of judging to be chosen, Dominion said.

Grants to K-12 schools focused on science, the environment, biology and energy focused projects, such as outdoor classrooms, school gardens and more. Grants to higher education institutions focused on workforce development.
