Del. Rust Hosts Homecoming Food Drive

Non-perishable food needed for LINK.

Del. Tom Rust (R-86) is hosting his fourth annual food drive to benefit LINK Against Hunger as part of the Herndon Homecoming festivities.

During the Herndon High School homecoming parade and football game food donations will be accepted. Especially needed is spaghetti sauce, dried beans, canned black beans, canned chicken, canned fruit, canned chili and soups.

There has been very high demand for food and LINK's supplies are low. Food donations are needed to stock the shelves of the pantry.

Rust will have children's wagons along the parade route as well as at the entrance to the homecoming game on Saturday to collect non-perishable food. He will also be collecting supplies at his Herndon office at the Old Herndon Town Hall.

“I have personally donated to LINK numerous times, and this is a wonderful way to help those in our community who are in need," Rust said in a press release. "Last year we collected over 600 pounds of food and we are hoping to exceed that this year.”
